Understanding the Composition of Your Body Weight Is Crucial

Your weight is not solely determined by the number on the scale; there are various factors that contribute to it. Understanding the composition of your weight is crucial. The type of body fat you have is of significant importance, with visceral fat being particularly dangerous

Let's examine two individuals as examples—one leading a sedentary lifestyle and the other being active. The scan distinctly reveals that the person with higher overall body weight is the same individual with lower visceral fat. This highlights the importance of considering not just the number on the scale but also the distribution and type of body fat when evaluating health.

Example A: Person is very sedentary, no exercise. Total Weight 228

Visceral fat 2.1 pounds

Example B: Person works outs 3 times weekly including resistance training.

Total Weight 280

Visceral fat 1.4 pounds

Problems of High Levels of Visceral Fat

When we are storing too much visceral fat it can pre-dispose us to heart disease, high blood pressure, pancreatitis, gall bladder disease, cancer and even Alzheimer’s disease, so nothing trivial. It can also cause hormonal malfunction, including the production of insulin, making us highly vulnerable to type-2 diabetes. The reason visceral fat is known as active fat is that it releases substances called cytokines into the bloodstream. There are various types of cytokine, some cause blood vessels to constrict resulting in high blood pressure, and others cause inflammation leading to heart disease and diabetes.

Slim Doesn’t Always Mean Safe

Research has now established that very slim people, particularly those who use diet alone to control their weight and do very little exercise, could be at risk from dangerous levels of visceral fat.

Can liposuction reduce visceral fat?

Liposuction is a fat removal procedure that’s only designed to remove subcutaneous fat.

Furthermore, because visceral fat is embedded deep inside the abdominal cavity – it cannot be suctioned out with lipo.

Visceral fat poses a serious threat to your health. Consider getting a scan, a quick and efficient process that takes less than 15 minutes, to assess and monitor your visceral fat levels. Prioritizing this step can contribute to a better understanding of your overall health and help you make informed decisions about your well-being.
